“Encountering the World in Epics of Southwest China” with Professor Mark Bender

Professor Mark Bender, of the Ohio State University has kindly agreed to give a virtual seminar entitled “Encountering the World in Epics of Southwest China.” This talk will examine on the imagery of traditional cultural and ecological lore expressed in epics from Yi and Miao in Southwest China. Professor Bender is professor of Chinese and Chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the Ohio State University. He specializes in traditional performance and performance-connected literature of China, including local Han and ethnic minority cultures.
