Wandering and Sleeplessness is a one-person play by prolific Peruvian actor Lucho Ramírez. It was first performed as part of the inaugural London International Festival of Theatre in 1981. Ramírez was born and raised in the Andean town of Yungay, which, in 1970, was destroyed by a catastrophic landslide. A decade later, Ramírez conceived of Wandering and Sleeplessness as a journey to his restless nights, haunted by fears of death and memories of displacement.
This 2021 reproduction of Wandering and Sleeplessness is a collaboration between Perú Fusión Teatro and the University of Leeds that forms part of the Moving Mountains project led by Dr Rebecca Jarman (LCS).
