We are delighted to announce the online premier of Wandering and Sleeplessness (38mins, in Spanish with English subtitles) on Thursday June 24th at 5pm BST. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, Lucho Ramírez. Wandering and Sleeplessness is a one-person play by prolific Peruvian actor Lucho Ramírez. It was first performed as part of the inaugural London International Festival of Theatre in 1981. Ramírez was born and raised in the Andean town of Yungay, which, in 1970, was destroyed by a catastrophic landslide.  A decade later, Ramírez conceived of Wandering and Sleeplessness as a journey to his restless nights, haunted by fears of death and memories of displacement.

This 2021 reproduction of Wandering and Sleeplessness is a collaboration between Perú Fusión Teatro and the University of Leeds that forms part of the Moving Mountains project led by Dr Rebecca Jarman (LCS).

Caminatas e insomnios es el primer espectáculo unipersonal de Lucho Ramírez, uno de los fundadores del grupo Cuatrotablas. El terremoto de 1970 provocó un aluvión sobre su ciudad natal, Yungay, cuando Ramírez tenía 12 años. Se salvó por estar en Lima. Diez años después, Ramírez creyó esta obra sobre los temas que no le dejaba dormir: identidades, raíces, pérdidas...
Esta reproducción de Camintas e insomnios es una colaboración entre Perú Fusión Teatro y la Universidad de Leeds que forma parte del proyecto Moving Mountains liderado por Dra Rebecca Jarman.
